Exposure check

Enter one or more CN/HS product codes to see whether they fall inside the CBAM or EUDR scope lists, with the date each regime bites and the Official Journal source for every match. ESGOS is not an accredited verifier and does not calculate, estimate or attest emissions. It publishes that a declaration exists, who verified it, against what, and when.

One or more codes, separated by commas, spaces or new lines; a code printed OJ-style as spaced digit groups ("7208 10 00") is read as one code. At least 4 digits each; up to 50 codes per check.

EU only for now — CBAM and EUDR are both EU import regimes.

Frequently asked questions

What is CBAM?
CBAM is the EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism for imported goods in 6 categories: Cement, Electricity, Fertilisers, Iron and steel, Aluminium, Hydrogen. Quarterly reporting-only obligations applied from 2023-10-01 until the definitive regime took over; that definitive regime — authorisation as a CBAM declarant, an annual declaration, and the purchase and surrender of CBAM certificates — applies from 2026-01-01, with the annual declaration due 30 September of the year following the import year (first: 2027-09-30, for calendar-year-2026 imports). A cumulative 50-tonne per-importer, per-calendar-year exemption is shared across cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers; electricity and hydrogen are excluded from it. What is EUDR?
EUDR is the EU deforestation regulation. It covers 7 commodity groups — Cattle, Cocoa, Coffee, Oil palm, Rubber, Soya, Wood — and the listed products made from them, identified by the CN/HS codes in its Annex I. For medium-sized and large operators and traders it applies from 2026-12-30; the notes on each match on this page carry the fuller timeline detail, including the later date for micro and small undertakings. Source: Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, Annex I, OJ L 150/243-246 (9.6.2023).
What does this check do?
It matches the CN/HS codes you enter, by prefix, against the CBAM and EUDR Annex I code lists as transcribed from the Official Journal texts, and reports which scopes match, from what date, with the regulation’s own caveats and source citations. Matches flagged as indicative sit in headings whose Annex carve-outs are recorded only in prose, so the match may be over-broad.
What does this check NOT tell you?
It is not legal or compliance advice. It does not consider country of origin, import volumes, company size or product composition, so a match here does not mean you owe obligations, and a no-match does not mean you owe none — confirm against the regulation text and your customs classification. ESGOS is not an accredited verifier and does not calculate, estimate or attest emissions. It publishes that a declaration exists, who verified it, against what, and when.
